Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, March 12, 2012.
Friday, March 9
*4:39am-Brownwood Police responded to the 3600 block of Durham Avenue regarding an assault which had already occurred. According to the report, the female victim explained that a male subject had taken her phone from her and when she asked for it back, he threw it at her causing a cut on her head. A suspect was named and charges were filed, according to authorities. The underage female and another female at the home admitted to having been drinking alcoholic beverages while at the residence, the report states. The person renting the home, 22-year-old Jacob Galan, was arrested for Furnishing Alcohol to Minors.
*9:39am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding criminal mischief after a verbal altercation was reported. According to the report, the complainant stated that a male, identified as 23-year-old Hector Castaneda was arrested for Criminal Mischief Equal or greater than $50 and Less than $500.
*9:49am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of 14th Street regarding the burglary of a building. According to the report, an unknown suspect(s) broke into numerous storage buildings and several items were stolen.
*10:02am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of 2nd Street regarding harassment via phone calls and text messages.
*10:22am-Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, a vehicle drove off without paying for approximately 20 gallons of gas, valued at $70.00.
*10:29am-Brownwood Police responded to the Wal-Mart parking lot regarding a hit and run between the hours of 9:15am and 10:00am.
*10:45am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of 1st Street regarding a hit and run. According to the report, the complainant stated that her minivan was struck on the back left bumper by an unknown vehicle. She stated that she heard the impact around 11:30pm the night before but did not see the suspect vehicle.
*3:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Avenue G regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, investigation showed that the complainant and her daughter had gotten into an argument and that the daughter had spit in the complainant’s face. The complainant wished to pursue charges, the report states.
*6:49pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant in the 2300 block of Main Blvd. According to the report, lawn care equipment was stolen from the location.
*7:12pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of US Hwy 377S regarding theft. According to the report, a tractor trailer failed to pay for $98.76 worth of diesel fuel that was pumped. At the time of the report, the vehicle and its driver could not be located, the report states.
*9:45pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 500 block of Belle Plain for a defective license plate lamp. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Kimberly Ann Adkins Kincaid, was arrested for Driving while License Invalid w/Previous Convictions.
*9:59pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Brady Avenue A regarding the burglary of a Habitation. According to the report, an unknown suspect broken into the home and stole a television and a dog. No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
*11:09pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a vehicle which was swerving in and out of traffic along the 1300 block of Belle Plain. According to the report, officers located the vehicle parked at a local business in the north part of Brownwood and were able to identify the driver and passenger of the vehicle as 24-year-old Ike Caleb Moseley and 24-year-old Ricky Leshawn Smith, both of Bangs. Moseley and Smith were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 2 less than 2 ounces. Moseley received an additional charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year-old Anthony James Garcia, Jr. for Possession of Marijuana less than or Equal to 2 ounces in a Drug Free Zone.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Valerie Dawn Ortega Gomez for Possession of Marijuana less than or Equal to 2 ounces in a Drug Free Zone.
Saturday, March 10
*3:03am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1400 block of Beaver regarding an assault. According to the report, a woman stated that during an argument with her boyfriend, he struck her in the face.
*5:19am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Vincent Street regarding theft of medication. A possible suspect was determined; however, no arrests have been made at this time.
*9:22am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Belle Plain regarding the Burglary of a Vehicle. According to the report, a bag with assorted contents was left in the back seat, the left rear door window was broken out and the bag was taken.
*11:19am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Waco regarding the burglary of a vehicle. According to the report a various items inside a purse and in the center console were stolen from the vehicle while parked at this location.
*11:44am-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a medical emergency at 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart. According to the report, investigation showed that a male, identified as 26-year-old Douglas Owen Neil Howard was in the store, had taken a spray can of duster and was inhaling it in the restroom. Howard was placed under arrest for Possession/Use/Inhale/Volatile Chemical and was issued a criminal trespass warning for Wal-Mart.
*12:13pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Parkway Drive regarding a hit and run. According to the report, an unknown vehicle hit a vehicle parked in front of this residence. Several vehicle parts were collected as evidence at the scene, the report states.
*9:38pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Brady Avenue regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant advised that a vehicle had driven on her property causing damage to the yard. The suspect was identified and advised of the charge of criminal mischief being filed against him, the report states. No arrest had been made at the time of the report.
Sunday, March 11
*1:06am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Coggin Avenue for a wide right turn. According to the report, the stop led to the arrest of the driver, 26-year-old Charley Salas Ortega, for Driving While License Invalid with No Insurance.
*3:42am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a convenience store in the 2800 block of US Hwy 377S regarding an intoxicated subject. According to the report, a clerk indicated that a male subject appeared to be intoxicated and was stumbling around the store. The male, identified as 38-year-old Jason Todd Baker, was found to be intoxicated and it was learned that he had been operating a vehicle with a child passenger when arriving at the store. According to the report, a loaded firearm was also located along with an illegal knife. Baker was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with Child Passenger as well as Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
*11:30am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Temple Avenue regarding an unwanted person inside a residence. While en route, communications advised that a male that appeared very intoxicated was reported to be stumbling down N. Main Blvd, the report states. One male was transported to the emergency room and charges are being pursued, according to authorities.
*1:04pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Stewart Street regarding the burglary of a building. According to the report, an unknown suspect gained entry to an office by force and stole over $4000.00 worth of computer and surveillance equipment. An active investigation is underway; however no suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*1:34pm-Brownwood Police reported to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft. According to the report, loss prevention had a male subject detained for shoplifting items valued at $391.65. As a result of this call, 20-year-old Stephen Ortiz was arrested for Theft greater than $50 Less than $500.
*2:56pm-Brownwood Police were called to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room regarding public intoxication. According to the report, 39-year-old Thomas Reed Stewart was arrested for Public Intoxication.
*8:06pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 4400 block of Edgewood regarding a domestic disturbance in progress. According to the report, 22-year-old Ivan Armando Guevara was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.
*8:47pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of 12th Street regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon investigation, 41-year-old Jennifer McKee Arredondo was arrested for Assault with Injury Family Violence.
*10:22pm-A Brownwood Police officer while patrolling in the 1500 block of Durham Avenue noticed four males walking north in the roadway on Durham Avenue. According to the report, the males were also walking on the wrong side of the road. A pedestrian stop on the four subjects led to the arrest of a juvenile and a citation to another one of the males for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*11:50pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Tulane Drive regarding a burglary of a habitation. According to the report, the burglary occurred between the hours of 5:00pm on March 9th and 11:45pm on March 11th. The complainant stated that an unknown subject entered his residence by kicking in the front and back doors of the residence and that the only property missing was a desktop computer tower.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Mary Nichole Culp for Theft of Property.
Monday, March 12
*12:02am-A Brownwood Police officer, while patrolling in the 1100 block of W. Austin Avenue, observed a vehicle fail to dim headlights to oncoming traffic. According to the report, the driver, identified as 21-year-old David Barraza III of Austin, provided a Texas identification card and dispatch advised that Barraza did not have a Texas issued drivers’ license and had prior convictions for No Drivers License. Barraza was arrested for No Driver’s License 3rd or More.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
