Brownwood first responders were called to the scene of a three vehicle accident at the intersection of Coggin Avenue and 8th Street Thursday morning which injured one.

The accident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m.  According to one of the drivers involved, a Jeep Liberty traveling southwest was stopped waiting to turn onto 8th Street and a GMC pickup truck was stopped behind it.  A third vehicle, a Toyota SUV also traveling in the inside lane, struck the pickup causing it to also rear end the Jeep Liberty.

The Toyota sustained significant front end damage, its driver appeared uninjured but shaken from the collision.  The pickup had front end damage along with  significant damage to its frame, as the bed of the truck was bent upward from the cab, pictured above.   The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital, the extent of her injuries was not reported.  The Jeep sustained little damage and its occupants were uninjured.

When the accident occurred, high school students were unloading from buses nearby for a college day at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church; however, none of the buses or students were involved in the accident.

Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police and Allegiance Ambulance Services responded to the scene of the accident.

Pictured above and below are photos of the damaged vehicles.
