texasrangersbadgeA press release has been issued with an update regarding the investigation of misconduct in Brown County. The statement reads:

At the request of the FBI, the Texas Rangers investigated allegations of misconduct in Brown County. The investigation has been completed and it has been turned over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The Texas Rangers and DPS have no additional information to provide at this time.

An official answer from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office is expected no later than December 15th in response to Brown County Auditor Jennifer Robison’s request for an opinion regarding Brown County Attorney Shane Britton’s office policy to accept funds through the the pretrial diversion program offered by Britton’s office.

Under the direction of former Brown County Chief Deputy Bobby Duvall, the sheriff’s office began investigating alleged missing funds from Britton’s program in 2014. The sheriff’s office later handed the case over to the FBI, the Texas Rangers, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
