Brownwood News – A line of severe thunderstorms blasted through Brown and neighboring counties Friday night, leaving considerable wind damage behind.

Among the reports we have seen so far as of late Friday night:

  • An RV blown over on Highway 67 about two miles east of Bangs
  • Docks damaged or overturned at McCartney Island and around Wild Duck Marina at Lake Brownwood
  • Garage damaged on FM 1849 north of Bangs
  • Tree damage at 2nd and Avenue C in Brownwood
  • Outbuildings destroyed 4 miles southeast of Brownwood

There were numerous power outages reported in Brownwood, Early, Comanche and Bangs.  ONCOR electrical crews were in route to begin repairs late Friday night.

The line of storms that caused the damaging winds developed in the Permian Basin at mid-afternoon on Friday then moved east and intensified by the time they got to Coleman, Brown, McCulloch, San Saba, Comanche, Callahan and Mills counties.
