Ramiro Castillo, Sr. age 81 went to be with his Lord on Friday, May 8, 2020 in Brownwood.

Mr. Ramiro will be lying in state for public viewing starting Thursday at 12:00 PM.

A visitation and prayer service will be Saturday, May 16th in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Ramiro was born on February 17, 1939 in Villa Union, Mexico to Jesus and Julia Vela Castillo.  He married Maria L. Castillo-Garcia in 1972 in Dallas.  Together they began a life that blessed them with two children and to grandchildren.  They lived a long and happy marriage until 1997 when Maria was killed in a terrible car wreck.

In 1999, Ramiro met Juanita Martinez in Eagle Pass and they married and moved to Brownwood.  They have been together ever since.

Ramiro’s son Ramiro Castillo, Jr. is currently serving our country with the Army in Afghanistan. He had hoped his safe return home.

Throughout his life, he worked in construction, masonry, farming and labor.  His hobbies were taking care of his ranch and his livestock, growing wheat and corn, cooking out for his family often and shooting rifles with his family.  He had a love for music and instruments and teaching his granddaughter to sing.  He also enjoyed fishing with his son and grandson.  Ramiro was also willing to lend a helping hand to others.

Ramiro is survived by his wife Juanita; a daughter, Julie Castillo; son Sgt.  Ramiro Castillo, Jr.; stepson, Rolando Mejia; grandson, Cornelio I. Banda, Jr., granddaughter, Candriel Castillo-Carbajal, his sister, Maria DeJesus Castenda and husband Guadalupe, his brother, Armando Castillo, sister-in-law, Maria Elida Castillo, and several nieces and nephews.

Ramiro was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Maria Castillo, a brother, Guadalupe Castillo and his nephew, LCpl. Mario Castillo.
