Brownwood First Responders were called to an accident on Sunday morning involving a pick-up truck striking the City of Brownwood’s Senior Citizens’ Center, located at 110 South Greenleaf Street near the Brownwood Coliseum.
According the responding Brownwood Police officer’s report, the vehicle’s 20-year-old driver reported that his steering wheel locked up. The 2004 Dodge truck was traveling south in the 500 block of C.C. Woodson Road when the steering wheel locked up, causing him to strike the curb on the right side of the roadway, and he lost control of the vehicle, traveling across lanes of oncoming traffic, and over the curbing on the left of the roadway into the coliseum parking lot. The vehicle continued across the roadway in the 100 block of South Greenleaf and struck the front of the building causing damage to both the structure and the vehicle.
Neither the 20-year-old driver nor his 18-year-old passenger were injured as a result of the accident.
