Original Story – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Avenue J resulted in one man being airlifted to the hospital and another transported by Guardian EMS.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a “major accident” where the vehicles “T-boned.”  The driver-side door of a Mercury four-door passenger car was struck by the front-end of the older model Chevy pickup.

According to a witness on scene, the Mercury crossed Austin Avenue at Avenue J when it was struck by the pickup.   The driver of the car was seriously injured and had to be cut out of the vehicle.  One emergency responder said “he was really bad off.”  The driver of the Mercury was airlifted by AirEvac Lifeteam.

The driver of the pickup had an injury to his head and was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room for treatment of his injuries.

Brownwood Police, Texas Department of Public Safety, Brownwood Fire Department, Guardian EMS, and AirEvac Lifeteam all responded to the scene.
