Brownwood News – Brownwood/Brown County Officials have offered an update regarding the search for a missing person swept away in a truck by flood waters earlier this month. According to officials, first responders have located a body inside a truck fitting the description of one reported around Mother’s Day to have been submerged by rising waters near 10-Mile Crossing.

 

 

The truck was located Thursday afternoon near where CR 257 crosses the Pecan Bayou. Responders located one body inside. The remains were unidentifiable and the body has been sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy.

On Sunday, May 12th, three people were swept off CR 257 at the 10-Mile Crossing. The driver and one occupant, identified as Lynn Leonard, 29, and Kathy Armendarez, 40,  were able to escape and find rescue. The third occupant, 59-year-old Susan Smith, has been missing since.

Brownwood News – On Sunday, May 12, 2019, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a vehicle was swept off County Road 257 at the 10 Mile Crossing. The vehicle was occupied by three persons. Lynn Leonard (29) and Kathy Armendarez (40) were able to get out of the vehicle. It is unknown at this time if the third person, Susan Smith (59), was able to exit the vehicle.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a missing person investigation for Susan Smith. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Texas Department of Wildlife, the Brownwood Fire Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Early Fire Department, the Lake Bridge Fire Department, and Air Evac.
