Mary was a charter member of Midtown Baptist Church.  She was born August 23, 1930 in Brady, Texas to Milton Sansom and Willie Mae Cox Sansom.  She lived in Mercury, Texas where she attended school there and Rochelle.  In 1943 the family moved to Brownwood, Texas where she graduated from high school in 1947.  She joined her parents in Odessa, Texas where she married her next door neighbor from Brownwood, Roland Newsom on October 31, 1948.  They moved back to Brownwood in 1957.  To this union were born 4 children.  Roland Newsom died in an automobile accident Nov. 20, 1984.  She then married Milton McNally of Eden, Texas, a widower with 2 adult children.  He died Feb. 20, 2002.  With this blended family, Ms. McNally enjoyed her beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren and all the many people she shared her home with.  It is because of her huge heart that our family has become more than just blood.  We are a great many people connected by love.

Ms. McNally is survived by two sons Donald Newsom and Michael McNally both of San Angelo, Texas; one daughter Misty Smith and husband Fred of Lake Brownwood; a foster daughter, Donna Smith Wilkins and husband Wesley of Monroe, Georgia; and a chosen daughter Shelly Gibson of Brownwood and a chosen sister Marie Smith and husband Jonnie of Early.  Ms. McAnally also leaves behind to cherish her memory nine grandchildren, Chris Wagner and wife Brooke of Kyle,  Karla Pope of Lubbock,  Tali and Jackson Newsom of Graford, Monica and husband Julian Blackell of Star, Slayden  and Mason McAnally of Brownwood  and Sterling and Thomas Smith; five great grandchildren, Preston and Kayli Wagner and Kilei, Nikki and Keana Pope.

Although Ms. McAnally was an only surviving child, she was blessed with many brothers and sisters and their families through her marriages.  She loved each of them.  Those surviving are brothers-in-law Sam McAnally and wife Dorothy of Brady, Lloyd Monroe of Amarillo; sisters-in-law Cloma Whitley of Brownwood, Shirley Cokendolpher of Austin, Evelyn Wynn of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Peggy McAnally of Winters and Patsy McAnally of Brady.  Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and her ray of sunshine Billy Newman and his family of Millersview, Texas.

Preceded her in death were her parents, both husbands, two sons Jimmy Newsom and Larry Newsom and wife JoAnn, one daughter Melissa Newsom, two infant siblings and her grandparents, and many other special family members.

In lieu of flowers Mary had suggested that memorials be made.  “by doing good deeds, loving thy neighbor and givin to the livin.”
