A Richland Springs man passed away Thursday morning from injuries he sustained in a head-on vehicle collision that occurred in Brown County on Wednesday morning.
47-year-old Robert Louis Ferguson was airlifted to Hendrick Medical Center after the crash and was pronounced dead at 3:50am Thursday as a result of his injuries. His body was taken to Howell-Duran Funeral Home in San Saba.
The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that the crash occurred around 5:25am Wednesday morning three miles south of Brownwood on Highway 45 near mile marker 350.
Reports indicate that Ferguson was driving his 1997 Toyota Avalon southbound when it collided head-on with a 2008 Jeep Wrangler going northbound which was driven by 45-year-old Susan Free of San Saba.
DPS reports that the accident occurred at a slight curve in the road when Ferguson’s vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck the Jeep. Reports state that Ferguson was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Free was transported by ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center and later taken to Scott & White in Temple. She is reported to have serious non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is being investigated by Texas DPS Trooper Delgado.
