childrenscamp_2012Swords are flying, poinsettias are blooming, and the Lyric Children’s Summer Camp is on its way.

This summer the camp will be held Monday, June 4th – Saturday, June 16th. While attending camp, children who have completed kindergarten through high school will learn the basics of acting and techniques. They will be cast, directed, and perform before audiences in 2 shows open to the public, in addition to learning about the heart of the theater in versatile methods including crafts, media, and hands-on activities. Students will enjoy participating in this year’s activities under the direction of Caitlyn Tidwell and Sara Musgrove at the Howard Payne University Theatre.

Registration forms are available for the camp online or at Southside Church.  See the Children’s Camp page on the Lyric’s website for more information.   The cost of the camp is $175 per student, including two weeks of unique education, snacks, and a t-shirt.

Tickets are also on sale now for the two performances at the end of camp. “A Mid-Summer’s Night Christmas” consists of two shows, “The Legend of the Poinsettia,” and “The Christmas Pirates of the Bermuda Triangle.” Audiences will enjoy magical moments, laughs, and the merriment of the holidays in these delightful pieces.

Performances will be held at Howard Payne University Theatre, Friday, June 15th at 7:00 PM and Saturday, June 16th at 2:30 PM.

“A Mid-Summer Night’s Christmas” will be your child’s favorite summer activity and registration is limited.

A maximum of 40 students will be allowed to participate (20 in each group).

Limited scholarships are available, on a first-come, first-served basis.
