Wednesday, August 21

*12:56 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the area of 4th Street and Avenue D for failure to yield the right of way.  According to the report, the vehicle pulled out in front of the officer’s patrol unit, causing him to have to brake rapidly to avoid colliding with the vehicle.  This stop led to seizure of two “roaches” containing marijuana, a clear baggie containing marijuana, a cigar containing marijuana and a black grinder containing marijuana residue, according to the report.  The driver, identified as 20-year-old Christopher Cotton was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

*1:39 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, a female attempted to steal a case of Dr. Pepper, a case of Coca-Cola, a 12-pack of Yoo Hoo, sugar, chocolate, cool whip, lunch meat, dish soap, and a package of socks.  This call led to the female being issued a citation for theft equal or less than $50.

Thursday, August 22

*12:15 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 500 block of 8th Street regarding terroristic threat.  According to the report, the victim stated that the suspect had threatened to kill him.  The investigation is ongoing, the report states.

*12:26 PM – Brownwood Police assisted Jones County Sheriff’s Department with gathering evidence in the theft of a 2009 Chevy 4-door pickup stolen out of Jones County.  According to the report, the vehicle contained the victim’s personal identification along with debit cards, which were reported to have been used at the Brownwood Wal-Mart on Wednesday, August 21st.  The officer retrieved surveillance video which will be forwarded to Jones County.

*5:19  PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, loss prevention employees had a subject detained in their office for theft.  Items stolen were valued over $50 and included facial scrub, deodorant, a 2-pack of lighters, sunglasses, toothpaste, tooth brushes, an 8-pack of soap, and a bandana.  The suspect, identified as 27-year-old John Cody Vian, was arrested for theft equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

*7:38 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the report of the theft of a cell phone.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her grandson’s iPhone had been stolen while they were in Wal-Mart.

*9:26 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, an off-duty Early Police officer witnessed a suspect attempting to take stolen merchandise to a vehicle.  When the responding BPD officer ordered the subject to come to him, the subject began to flee on foot and was pursued by the witness on foot and the officer by patrol car, the report states.  The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Rollie Galvan Lopez, was taken into custody before leaving the store property and was arrested for evading arrest or detention, possession of drug paraphernalia, and for two outstanding warrants.

*9:34 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the report of theft at Wal-Mart.  According to the report, 20-year-old Miguel Angel Pacheco II was identified at Wal-Mart, where he had been detained by an off-duty Early Police Officer for shoplifting a 22-inch television.  Pacheco was placed under arrest and charged with theft of property greater than $50 less than $500.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 22-year-old Crystal Gayle Newingham on three warrants related to failure to appear/theft of property $50-$500, driving while license invalid and rant stop sign.

Friday, August 23

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 63-year-old Sharon Lawton Jordy for driving while intoxicated.

*Bangs Police arrested 51-year-old Jana Claudette Slaughter of Ft. Worth for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces in a drug free zone.
