Law Enforcement reports and arrests released Friday, June 18, 2010
Thursday June 10
*At approximately 10:12 pm, a Brownwood Police officer on patrol noted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated; however, according to reports, the driver did not stop even after the patrol car’s overhead lights and sirens were activated. The driver then made a U-turn and continued to accelerate fleeing police. According to the report, the vehicle eventually struck a gas meter, the edge of a telephone pole and a clothes line, then struck a large tree with its back quarter panel, and finally crashed into the back of a green van. The driver fled on foot; however the passenger was still in the vehicle. A suspect was named and the officer reported that an arrest warrant for evading arrest/detention and leaving the scene of an accident, will be issued according to the report.
Saturday June 12
*Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue in regards to a hit and run.
Wednesday June 16
*Brownwood Police responded to a terroristic threat in the 2400 block of Elizabeth.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports a found boy’s bicycle. To claim the bicycle, please contact the Brown County Sheriff’s Office to identify.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Theft of Property over $1500 and less than $20,000. An electric pump jack motor and 30 joints of tubing valued at approximately $2100.
Thursday June 17
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Billy Chaz Ely, 22-year-old Brandon Duray Ely, and Savannah Jordan Hood, each charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty grade 1, less than 1 gram, in a Drug Free Zone; Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.; and on a Burglary warrant from Marion County, Georgia.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 42-year-old Brandy Fletcher Hammer for Driving While Intoxicated, Open Container.
*Brownwood Police responded to a terroristic threat in the 1700 block of Avenue A.
*Brownwood Police responded to a burglary of a storage unit in the 2700 block of South US 377.
*Brownwood Police responded to a burglary of a storage unit in the 2000 block of Brady Avenue.
Friday June 18
*Brownwood Police Department arrested 52-year-old Alvin Eugene Anderson for Public Intoxication after an officer noted him riding his bicycle in the main lane of traffic along the 200 block of West Commerce at approximately 2am. Anderson had fresh injuries from falling off of his bicycle and was continuing to ride erratically according to the report. Concerned for his safety, the officer pulled the bicyclist into a parking lot.
*Brownwood Police Department arrested 22-year-old Melvin Batista for Assault Family Violence with Injury by Strangulation
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
