Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday, December 28, 2010.
Tuesday, December 21
*2:17pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of Cordell, Heart of Texas Mechanical. According to the report, the complainant advised that someone had stolen one of his business work cell phones and used it several times before the service was disconnected.
*5:12pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 3300 block of 1st Street regarding criminal mischief. According to police reports, the complainant stated that over the past few weeks someone had shot BBs through many of his windows. The complainant did not want to pursue criminal charges, but did want to file a report.
*5:32pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 1st Street regarding criminal mischief and possible burglary of a habitation. A door to the residence had signs of damage; however there was no evidence that anyone had entered the residence the report states. Damage to the door was estimated at $50.
Wednesday, December 22
*7:16am-Brownwood Police responded to a report of two stolen pit bull puppies from the 2700 block of 1st Street. Both pups were located and returned to the owner the report states.
*11:22am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of 5th Street regarding a burglary of a habitation. Investigation is ongoing and possible suspects were identified.
Thursday, December 23
*10:29am – Brownwood Police responded to a report of a hit and run accident in the 1600 block of Waco. According to the report, a vehicle fled the scene of the accident after striking a gas meter and a chain link fence.
*1:42pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2200 block of Vine Street regarding criminal mischief. According to police reports, someone had busted out the back window of the complainant’s Chevy Blazer.
*5:02pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, a couple had a verbal argument that had escalated into a physical altercation. Both 25-year-old Mildred Dawn Sipe and 28-year-old Michael Joe Somerville were arrested for Assault with Bodily Injury Family Violence.
*7:10pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 200 block of W. Commerce regarding an intoxicated driver. According to the report, dispatch provided a description and license number for the vehicle and it was located in the 800 block of Clark Street. A stop was initiated for a traffic violation which led to the arrest of the driver, identified as 45-year-old Terry Don Schulze of Allen, Texas for Driving While Intoxicated and Resisting Arrest.
*8:37pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to report of a burglary of a habitation. According to the report, someone had broken into the complainant’s home on CR320 between the hours of 7pm and 8:20pm through an unlocked door. Numerous items were reported missing which included 2 watches, 2 gold wedding bands, a video camera, a rain suit, and 5 hunting & pocket knives.
*11:33pm-Brownwood Police responded to a burglary of a vehicle in the 100 block of Center Avenue. An investigation was opened regarding the incident.
Friday, December 24
*6:58am-Brownwood Police were called to the 4600 block of Delwood regarding criminal mischief. The officer had received multiple calls throughout the day on the south side of Brownwood regarding criminal mischief which included vehicle windows that had been busted out sometime during the night of December 23rd the report states. The officer spoke with all complainants and investigated each scene.
*11:55am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to a hit and run in the 3600 block of Surrey Lane. According to the report, the complainant stated that his vehicle was hit in the Wal-Mart parking lot the night before. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*5:38pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 3000 block of Avenue E regarding criminal mischief. The rear window of the vehicle had been shot out with a BB gun the report states. No suspects were known at the time of the report.
*7:32pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding an incident of theft. According to the store’s loss prevention employees, a male, identified as 43-year-old Marty Valentine Sanchez, had attempted to shoplift $106.72 worth of merchandise. Communications advised the officer that Sanchez had two outstanding Brown County warrants. Sanchez was arrested for the two warrants and also charged with Theft of Property equal or greater than $50, less than $500.
*7:45pm – Brownwood Police arrested 37-year-old Jeri Lynn Smith for Theft of Property equal or greater than $50 and less than $500. Police reports state the Smith triggered a store alarm at 401 W. Commerce when she left without paying for merchandise. She was also issued a criminal trespass warning for Wal-Mart and another location.
Saturday, December 25
*9:25am-A Brownwood Police officer was called to the 1100 block of Morris regarding a hit and run accident that had occurred overnight. According to police reports, the 1999 Chevy Camaro had damage to the passenger side head lamp and to an area below the passenger door.
Sunday, December 26
*A Brownwood Police officer on patrol in the 1400 block of Indian Creek noticed a vehicle with one headlamp. According to the report, a traffic stop led to the arrest of the driver, 34-year-old Thomas Joseph Byrd, for Driving While License Invalid and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
*6:55pm-Brownwood Police were called to a restaurant in the 700 block of W. Commerce regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the complainant stated that his vehicle had been struck while he and his party were inside eating and the suspect(s) left without providing information. Damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $200 the report states.
Monday, December 27
*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to an animal complaint in the 4400 block of Austin Avenue where two pit bulls were attacking a show pig. The report states that the deputy yelled at the dogs to leave the pig alone and the male pit bull charged the deputy, who then shot and killed it. He then threw a rock at the female pit bull to get it away from the pig. The female too charged at the deputy and had to be destroyed as well the report states.
A phone number for the dog’s owner was located on a tag that was attached to the animals’ collars and the owner was called to notify him of what had happened. The owner came to the location to retrieve the animal bodies and to make arrangements with the complainant to pay for the damages caused by his dogs. The owner stated that the dogs were trained for hunting to bite the ears of hogs to hold the hogs to the ground.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
