James Edward Calhoon, age 76, of Brownwood peacefully left this world and went home to be with his heavenly father, Thursday, March 14, 2019.

He was born October 3, 1942 in Coleman, Texas, the son of Joe and Louise Calhoon.  As a young man and in his early adulthood, James lived a hardworking life, raising a family that he was very proud of.

On May 25, 1990 he married the love of his life, Terrie Lou Buchanan Day in Brownwood and established the ‘yours, mine, and ours’ family.  He was employed by Superior Cable for many years as a machinist, retiring in 2007.  He had served as a softball umpire for many years, and was an avid hunter.  He loved spending time with his wife, his children, and his grandchildren as often as he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise Calhoon, a brother, Donnie Calhoon, and his sisters, Cleo Carson and Judy Oxford.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Terrie Calhoon, sisters, June Hall and Dorothy Brake, daughters, Cathy Maldonado, Andie Cox, and Michelle Day, sons, Randy Calhoon, William Day, and Marshall Day, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

James was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all and will be dearly missed by all.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday at his beloved Brownwood Evangelism Center with Pastor Ken Colgrove officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 PM on Saturday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home and interment will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
