The American Southwest Conference today announced the 2014 football All-Conference teams and awards and Howard Payne landed 10 players on this year’s lists.
Derrian Thompson – Center – First Team All-ASC/Outstanding Sportsman Team of the Year
Thompson was a part of a HPU offensive line that was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after their performance against East Texas Baptist. The HPU offensive line led the ASC allowing just 16 sacks this season.
Patrick Dillard – Offensive Guard – Second Team
Dillard was a part of a HPU offensive line that was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after their performance against East Texas Baptist. The HPU offensive line led the ASC allowing just 16 sacks this season.
Donald Preston – Defensive Line – Second Team
Preston finished tied for second in the ASC in sacks with six and in tackles for loss with 12. He also averaged 5.5 tackles per game.
Colby Mica – Wide Receiver – Honorable Mention
Mica was second in the ASC in receptions with 73, third in total yards with 1109 and in yards per game with 110.9.
Nick Ladd – Offensive Guard – Honorable Mention
Ladd was a part of a HPU offensive line that was named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week after their performance against East Texas Baptist. The HPU offensive line led the ASC allowing just 16 sacks this season.
Richard Young – Quarterback – Honorable Mention
Young finished third in the ASC in total yards passing (2,847) and in yards per game (284.7). He led an offense versus East Texas Baptist that total 720 yards of offense in the win.
Aroldo Nandin – Runningback – Honorable Mention
Nandin scored on TD and had five receptions out of the backfield but it was his protection of the quarterback that earned him Honorable Mention honors.
Joshua Martinez – Place kicker – Honorable Mention
Martinez hit 7 of 8 attempted field goals with a long of 44 yards versus Wayland Baptist.
Jason Disney – Linebacker – Honorable Mention
Disney finished third in the ASC in total tackles with 82 (11 for loss). He also had three sacks and one interception.
Jordan Shaw – Defensive Back – Honorable Mention
Shaw finished second in the ASC in total tackles with 87 (44 solo). He also had two interceptions with five pass breakups.
