Brownwood News – Lightning is thought to have caused a house fire Tuesday morning at 7350 County Road 333, roughly four miles east of Early, just south of Highway 377.

Several fire departments from Brown County responded to the fire alarm at 8:39 Tuesday morning.  First firemen on scene reported the attic on fire from one end of the home to the other.

According to Brownwood Fire Marshal, Buddy Preston, the site built home, built in 2006, was a total loss.  Preston said the damage was consistent with a lightning strike and storms were moving through the area early Tuesday morning.

There were no injures and no one at home at the time.

The house fire wasn’t the only lightning related call.  Preston also investigated lightning strikes that did electrical damage to Oak Ridge Manor and PetSense in Commerce Square.
