The Brown County Courthouse will be the venue for a freedom rally this Saturday organized by Brownwood resident and former minister Bill Swindler.

Swindler said that the purpose of the rally is to honor God and country at the courthouse square, and everyone is invited to attend.

“We let others dictate when and where we talk about Jesus,” Swindler said. “Our freedom comes from Jesus and is guaranteed by the Constitution.”

Swindler also said that the rally will focus on the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights which will be recited in part.  Those in attendance will sing “God Bless America” and other patriotic songs and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the US flag.  Swindler said all veterans in attendance will be honored and recognized.  A special recognition will also be held for veterans who are Purple Heart recipients.

“We want to put a special call out to veterans and holders of the Purple Heart to please try and attend,” Swindler said.

The Freedom Rally will take place Saturday, October 2nd at 10am at the north side of the Brown County Courthouse.   Special arrangements have been made to block off that section of Broadway for the rally.

“The rally is open to everybody,” Swindler said. “We hope to have a good crowd.”
