Five people have filed for two positions on the Bangs School Board election to be held in May. Incumbents Pam Bryant and Dennis Sanchez will run against Seth Pitman, Clint Dodson and Eric Lykins for two seats chosen at-large.
At its regular meeting Monday evening, the board approved a contract with Waldrop Construction for the design build renovation of the eighth grade wind of Bangs ISD. Superintendent Bill Foster told the Board he would try to set up a meeting between them and Waldrop to discuss the details in person.In other business, the board approved the 2010-2011 school calendar which includes a full two weeks for Christmas, a later spring break than the one held this year, two bad weather days and three waiver days; approved the 2010-2011 District Improvement; nominated Eric Bishop, Brown County Independent, Misty Bowers, KOXE/KBWD and Gene Deason of the Brownwood Bulletin to the TASB Media Honor Roll and approved the certification of district text books.
The Board also recognized members of the National Honor Society who raised enough money to buy a water purifier for the Haiti earthquake victims. The Board was told that $2500 would purchase a unit small enough to fit in the backseat of a car.
Board President Jerry Roberts appointed members Larry Leman and Lyndell Tidwell to a committee to study and discuss field house options.
