Fire destroyed a home at Lake Brownwood Friday evening and its cause is still under investigation.

The fire was reported shortly after 5:30 PM Friday at a residence on County Road 569 at Lake Brownwood.  Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.  Fire units from 5 area agencies responded to the fire and stayed on scene for several hours.

Fire Marshal Buddy Preston said that only one occupant was home when the fire began, but no injuries were reported.   Preston said that the two-story wood frame home was a total loss.

Preston said that he has not determined the cause of the fire yet but is continuing his investigation.

Firefighters from the Lake Bridge Volunteer Fire Department, Bangs Volunteer Fire Department, Lake Dam Volunteer Fire Department, North Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Brownwood Fire Department all responded to the scene.
