The filing deadline for Brownwood ISD school board trustee is fast approaching, and BISD district officials are encouraging the public to file for a place on the ballot in the November 6th election.
Three places on the BISD school board will be up for election this year – Place Two, currently filled by Nesa Morelock; Place Four, currently filled by Eric Evans; and Place Five, currently filled by Michael Coppic.
So far, two candidates have filed for the Place Four trustee position – incumbent Eric Evans filed paperwork to run on Monday while Brant Baugh filed for the same spot last week.
To date, no one has filed paperwork to run in the other two places. Nesa Morelock announced last week that she would not seek re-election. BISD Superintendent Reece Blincoe recognized Morelock for her service to the district and asked the public to consider filing for a place on the ballot.
“I would like to take this time to thank Nesa for serving on this board for many, many years and being on the board that brought me to Brownwood, Texas, and I appreciate that,” Blincoe said. “I would also like to take this time to say that we need somebody to step forward. We’ve not had anybody for Place Two so would appreciate a citizen coming forward that would like to serve in Place Two. We could use some filings.”
Place Five school board trustee Michael Coppic has not filed for a place on the ballot yet. Filing deadline is Monday, August 20 at 4:30pm at the BISD Administration building.
The BISD school board approved Monday night the order for the election to take place on November 6th through the Brown County Elections Office.
