Eual Wayne Hefner, age 74, of Brownwood, formerly of Coleman, passed from this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.

He was born on May 16, 1940 in Loop, Gaines County, Texas to J.C. and Alma (nee Reid) Hefner.  Wayne was raised in Cross Plains where he graduated high school.  He served his country in the US Army for eight years and was a Vietnam Veteran.  Wayne also worked as a contractor documenting history for the Army at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.  He had been a longtime resident of Alexandria, Virginia before moving to Coleman to work as a plant manager at Hefner Plastics at the Lake Coleman plant.

Wayne enjoyed spending his spare time restoring British MG sports cars and classic Chevrolet pickups.

Wayne is survived by his niece and caregiver, Teresa Balkum Glasscock and spouse Jim; sisters, Charlene Hefner Cumba, Donna Hefner Wagner and Jackie Marie Hefner; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hefner and brother-in-law, Gene Witt and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, J.C., Bob, Gilbert and Larry Hefner and three sisters, Olga Witt, Wilsie Balkum and Wanda Defour.

Cremation is under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at a later date in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
