IMG_5993At approximately 7:10 am Thursday, an Early ISD school bus ran off the road and rolled once in a field.

According to Early ISD Superintendent Brett Koch, the bus was travelling north on FM 3100 when the driver lost control of the bus as it went around a curve about two miles from Hwy 67/377.  The bus hit an embankment in the bar ditch, rolled over as it went through a fence, landed upright and traveled some distance in a field where it stopped facing south.

The front windshields were broken out and debris from the bus were collected from the field.

“The bus driver is in the hospital in stable condition at this time,” Koch said. “He was luckily wearing his seat belt.”

The bus was on its way to pick up students for school, but no kids were on the bus during the accident.

“We are thankful that no students were on the bus,” Koch said.

The driver’s name is not being released at this time.
