laughlinDoyle Laughlin, 78, of Bangs died Monday, November 24, 2014, in Brownwood. Visitation will be held Friday, November 28, from 5-7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, in the Trickham Cemetery, with the Reverend Pat McClatchy officiating. After graveside services, family and friends are invited to gather in the Trickham Community Center to share memories and refreshments. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.

Doyle was born July 25, 1936, to Roy and Edna Cole Laughlin in Santa Anna, Texas. He grew up on the Laughlin family farm in Coleman County, graduated from Brookesmith High School in 1954, and attended Howard Payne. His childhood family church was Mountain View Methodist, and he remained a lifetime Methodist. In 1957, he married Wanda Rhodes, and they had two children. He retired from the U. S. Soil Conservation Service, ranched and dabbled in the oil business on the family ranch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Edna Laughlin, and brother, Billy Roy Laughlin.
Doyle is survived by his son, David Laughlin and wife Virginia of Houston; daughter, Darla Barnum and husband Donnie of Brownwood; mother of his children, Wanda Barnes of San Angelo; four granddaughters, Kimberly Manglberger and husband Bobby of Leakey, Amy Reed and husband Cody of Cross Plains, Kassaundra Laughlin of Houston, and Alyxandria Laughlin of Dallas; four great grandsons, Carbyn Barnum, Mason and Tyler Manglberger, Kutter Reed, and a fifth expected this month; a sister-in-law, Mildred Laughlin of Brownwood; two nieces, Cheryl Campbell and husband Andy and Charlotte Laughlin and husband Billy Lee; four great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. His family is especially grateful to his cousin, Nona Lee Horner, who held his hand and talked with him several hours the morning of his death.
