Doyle Haskle Ward was born on September 20, 1926 in May, Texas to Charlie Calvin and Cora Mills Ward. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and on May 25, 1948 he married Juanita Kumor in May, Texas. He was a member of the Brady Avenue Church of Christ and was a farmer and rancher.

Preceded in death by his parents Charlie Calvin and Cora Ward, three brothers Monroe, Deraymond and Herschel Ward and by one sister Pauline Irvin.
