WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tomorrow at 12:00 PM CST/1:00 PM EST Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee will join Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee’s Defense Acquisition Reform Panel Congressman Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) to announce new bipartisan legislation to overhaul defense acquisition spending, potentially saving billions of taxpayer dollars and expediting the process to get the necessary equipment to our warfighters.

Throughout the last year, the Defense Acquisition Reform Panel conducted a comprehensive review of the Department of Defense’s acquisition process. Throughout this review, the Panel uncovered billions of wasted taxpayer dollars and reported a number of recommendations to curb Pentagon cost overruns.

To ensure that service members and taxpayers are getting the full value of every dollar spent, Congressmen Andrews and Conaway have worked to incorporate the Panel’s recommendations into law through H.R. 5013, the IMPROVE Acquisition Act of 2010, which was approved in today’s Committee mark-up by a vote of 56 to 0. Please join Congressmen Andrews and Conaway tomorrow at 12:00 PM CST for a detailed description of the IMPROVE Acquisition Act of 2010 and its direct benefits for our nation’s taxpayers and armed services. To join this discussion, dial 1-800-369-3166 (passcode 49312). Time will be reserved for Q & A.
