RibbonsOfSupport_2015

VFW Post 3278 and the Ladies Auxiliary ask the community to show support for the military, law enforcement, fire & rescue and EMTs by displaying a ribbon of support at home or at a business.

Organizers of the campaign explained that these men and women who voluntarily step up to serve and protect, not to mention run into harm’s way, deserve a special amount of respect and gratitude. They take on a type of job that not everyone could do and organizers of the ribbons of support campaign are thankful to know they are there ready, willing and able whenever they are needed.

“So the next time you see military, law enforcement, a firefighter or someone with the EMS be sure to tell them ‘thank you,’ don’t let it take a tragedy to make you appreciate what they do,” said VFW member Joyce Leidig.  “To all of those who are public servants, no matter which uniform you wear, we want to say thank you for all you do and are prepared to do should a situation arise. You are truly the heroes in our community and our nation.”

Seeing ribbons of support around the community will send a message from the community to these military and first responder personnel that the community supports them and appreciates the often dangerous jobs they’re doing, Leidig said.

VFW Post 3278 & Ladies Auxiliary will be accepting donations of $5 for the ribbons of support.  Monies in excess of supplies will be used to support the VFW’s ongoing programs for military, veterans and local organizations.
