The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter announces a change in the date of their annual Candlelight Vigil which has been rescheduled for October 27th.
The event will begin at 6:30pm at the Girling Center for Justice next door to the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom.
This event is held in support and remembrance of all victims that have lost their lives to domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The vigil is organized by staff from the ARK and co-hosted by the criminal justice and social work departments at HPU.
Howard Payne University students (from left) Ricardo Martinez, Alejandra Jaramillo and Natalie Cardenas stop to observe the Empty Shoes exhibit that was displayed at HPU’s Bettie and Robert Girling Center for Social Justice last week. Each of the 10 pairs of shoes represents a Central Texas woman or child who has died as a result of domestic violence in the past 12 years.
The display was provided by the ARK Domestic Violence Shelter in Brownwood to commemorate National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is now available for viewing at Heartland Mall.
