The 2011 Brownwood Reunion Celebration kicked into high gear Saturday with loads of attractions, competitions, food, and music. Although thundershowers threatened the area in the afternoon and evening, all of the fun continued and was capped off on the main stage by Easton Corbin.
Saturday’s events started with the annual 5K/10K run where more than 500 participants took to the downtown streets to prove who was the fastest. That event overlapped with the Feels Like Home Grand Parade which was followed closely by the Honor a Hero Parade.
The Classic Car Show in the Brownwood Coliseum was also buzzing all day Saturday with activity, and showcased about to 50 classic vehicles from the 1960’s. The entire festival area was filled with the smell of great food not only from the pair of food courts, but also from this year’s BBQ cook-off contestants.
Great music was also all around the festival area with four stages besides the main Celebration Stage including the Carnegie Corner stage, Home Town Hero stage, and Front Porch Pickin’ stage.
There was plenty to see and do throughout Saturday’s festivities including a great magic show by David Hira, mini-train rides at the Martin and Lehnis Railroad Museum, Kids Zone, a pair of helicopters in Military World, budgie cord jumping, a Cake-off competition, carnival rides and more than 100 vendors offering a variety of merchandise.
