MotorcycleAwarenessMo2016

The City of Brownwood proclaimed May as Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month during a recent city council meeting.

Mayor Stephen Haynes read and then presented the proclamation to local motorcycle enthusiast Laurence Charles, pictured above.

The proclamation outlined that more citizens are involved in motorcycling in today’s society.  Campaigns have helped inform riders and motorists alike about motorcycle safety issues to reduce motorcycle related risks, injuries and most of all fatalities through a comprehensive approach to motorcycle safety.

It is further stated in the document that responsibility lies with all who put themselves behind the wheel to become aware of motorcyclists and to obey all traffic laws.  It also encouraged all motorists to become aware of the inherent danger involved in operating a motorcycle and for riders and motorists alike to give each other the mutual respect they deserve.

Mayor Haynes urged all residents to do their part to increase motorcycle safety and awareness in our community.
