The Brownwood Police Department was busy during Reunion weekend with several calls.
Neighbor Runs Over Dog
Brownwood Police officer Zane Taylor responded to a call on the morning of Sept 18th regarding a case of animal cruelty. A report released by Taylor says that a man on the scene told the officer that the owner of a 6 year old dog let it outside as she does on a regular basis. The dog wandered across the street into a neighbor’s front yard. The report states that the neighbor was returning home at the time, accelerated his vehicle, swerved into his yard where he struck the dog. The neighbor then exited the vehicle, walked over to the dog, picked it up and threw it into the dumpster behind the house.
The neighbor who allegedly hit the dog told police that he had warned the dog’s owner to keep the dog out of his yard or he would do something to it. Police saw apparent tire tracks in the yard and retrieved the dog from the dumpster. Police are now seeking a warrant for the neighbors arrest.

In a report by officer Brandon Arnold states that just after midnight on Sept 20th, Arnold witnessed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and make an improper right turn. Arnold stopped the vehicle and as he approached noticed an open whisky bottle in the back passenger floorboard. Arnold asked the driver to exit the vehicle and then searched the vehicle looking for other open containers. The report says that upon searching the vehicle, Arnold found a bag in the back seat containing a white powdery substance that he believed to be methamphetamine. The report states that another bag was found in the glove box.
