The day that many Brownwood High School students have been waiting for has finally arrived. The school began issuing Macbook laptop computers today as part of the 1 to 1 initiative.
The issuing of laptops will go through Wednesday until every student in the school has one. Teachers have already received their laptops along with training to better incorporate them into their curriculum.
Over the last few weeks, the high school has been conducting orientation for students and parents as to what to expect with these laptops and how they will be used in the school.
The Texas Education Agency awarded a $500,000 grant to the Brownwood school district to purchase the computers. There was also another grant that will enable BISD to provide laptops to the Brownwood Middle School as well, possibly as soon as next spring.
The school district also announced that they received another grant last week that will enable laptop purchases for teachers at the 5th & 6th grade Intermediate school along with computer carts to be used in the classrooms.
