On Saturday, October 12th, ten members of the Brownwood High School Choir traveled to Burleson High School to participate in the second round of auditions toward making the All-State Choir. The students auditioned in front of a panel of judges and were required to sight read an eight measure phrase of music, sing two songs in Latin and another in Russian. Judges rated the students on their musicality, vocal tone, foreign language pronunciations, level of preparation for the audition, as well as their ability to read music.
The top twelve singers for each voice part (soprano 1 & 2, alto 1 & 2, tenor 1 & 2, and bass 1 & 2) were named All-Region Choir Members. Two Brownwood High School Choir members earned the honor of being a part of the All-Region Choir: Trey Fawcett and Albert Nguyen (both Tenor 2).
The next twelve top scores for each voice part were named District Choir Members. Three members of the Brownwood High School Choir were chosen to be a part of the District Choir: Jack Robinson (Tenor 1), Kalin Young (Bass 1), and Chevy Robertson (Bass 2).
The District and All-Region Choirs will rehearse together and perform in concert on Saturday, November 16th at Weatherford High School.
In addition to preparing to perform with the All-Region Choir, Trey Fawcett and Albert Nguyen have also begun preparations for the third round of All-State Auditions to be held in Fort Worth on Saturday, November 23rd, for which they will be learning songs in Latin and in German.
