Brownwood News – Allen Ray and the Southern Comfort Band will perform at La Sorella, located at 2803 Austin Avenue, on Friday June 29th as part of the “Raise the Woof” fundraiser for NaNook and Nakoda’s Big Paws Rescue (NNBPR).

Tickets for the event are $20 each to enjoy the live acoustical performance. Yard games will be available, and concert goers can purchase beer and wine from La Sorella to enjoy during the evening. Tickets are selling quickly and event attendees are encouraged to bring additional lawn chairs to ensure seating. Proceeds raised during the evening will help NNBPR establish a no-kill shelter for large dogs.

Allen Ray and the Southern Comfort Band will be playing Texas Country, Rock, and Blues, in addition to the classic Traditional Country. Much of Allen Ray’s musical influences are greats like legendary Stevie Ray Vaughn, Charlie Daniels, Merle Haggard, and Alaman Brothers.

NNBPR is working to raise $20,000 to establish their no-kill rescue shelter for large dogs and difficult to adopt dogs. To date, the organization has raised $3,200 since its founding in November 2017. NNBPR has been able to rescue 16 dogs facing euthanization. The organization is currently working to find foster homes for the dogs to offer home-based training to prepare the dogs for their forever homes.

“Our goal is to shelter pets in a cage-less, home-like sanctuary,” explained founder Toni Burleson. “Sadly we cannot take as many homeless pets as we would like as we are limited by the number of fosters starting out and the space in our homes.”
