Brownwood Athletics – The Brownwood Lions Varsity Baseball team jumped out to an early lead in the victory over Florence. The early lead helped Brownwood defeat Florence 15-5 on Friday. Brownwood scored on a double by Gavin Clemons in the first inning, a stolen base in the second inning, and a home run by Blaine Hughes in the second inning.

The Lions earned the victory despite allowing Florence to score three runs in the second inning. Florence scored its runs on a single by #88. Brownwood took an early lead in the first inning.

The Lions Varsity scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a stolen base by Rylan Reagan and a home run by Hunter Leonard.

Hayden Danahoo earned the win for the Lions. He went six innings, surrendering five runs, 11 hits, and striking out six. #3 took the loss for Florence. He threw six innings, giving up 13 runs, 15 hits, and striking out six.

Home runs for Brownwood came when Leonard homered in the fourth inning, Blaine Hughes homered in the second inning, Reagan homered in the fourth inning, and Harley Price homered in the third inning.

Brownwood had 15 hits in the game. Grant Fanara, Price, Gavin Clemons, and Leonard each collected multiple hits for the Lions. Clemons, Price, and Fanara each collected three hits to lead the team. Brownwood didn’t commit a single error in the field. Cain Kittrel had the most chances in the field with six.

Florence collected 11 hits. #88, #4, #2, and #8 each collected multiple hits for Florence. #88 led Florence with three hits in four at bats. Florence didn’t commit a single error in the field. #7 had six chances in the field, the most on the team.
