Brownwood News – The Brown County Sheriff’s Department responded to the following calls for service which were included in their report released to media on Thursday morning, December 5.
On November 26, 2019, Deputy Taylor Fletcher initiated a traffic stop on a red 4-wheeler driving south on Highway 183, near County Road 334. According to the arrest report, the driver, Racheal Harris (shown in photo), failed to yield and continued traveling south at around 45 to 50 mph for approximately two (2) miles before pulling over. Harris was subsequently arrested for driving the ATV on the roadway and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle. Harris was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance after approximately 1.7 grams of methamphetamine was found in her purse, the report states.

Brown County jail records show Harris bonded out of jail on November 27, 2019 on a $15,000 bond for Possession of a Controlled Substance, $5,000 bond for Evading Arrest and $500 bond for Operating an Off Road Vehicle on Highway.
On Monday, December 2, 2019, an illegal dumping call was received from County Road 155 and FM 586. A report was made by Deputy Saydie Hammonds.
On December 2, 2019 at 14:25 hours, while on uniformed patrol in a marked Brown County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit, Deputy M. Davis was dispatched to County Road 334 in Blanket. This regarded a Criminal Trespass incident.
On December 3, 2019, Deputy Andre Smoot responded to a suspicious call regarding an unknown vehicle going onto property of Brown County Precinct Barn #3 where inmate trustees work. It was believed that contraband may have been left for an inmate to receive. The property was searched with no contraband found and a report was completed.
On Tuesday, December 3, at 10:04 hours, Deputy Jayson Bastardo was dispatched on a fraud call. He spoke with a woman who said someone had made fraudulent charges on her credit card. A report was taken.
On December 4, at about 08:50 hours, Deputy Byron Langley arrived at Switzer in Bangs to a theft where he spoke with a woman who stated a know suspect had manipulated her out of $200.
Deputy Scotty Burke met with a complainant on county road 521 in Bangs in reference to burglary of a building and theft report.
