AgriLifeExtensionAll Brown County residents are cordially invited by The Brown County Extension Education clubs represented by the May, McDaniel and Owens communities to attend a free teach and learn program.  This event is designed to educate the public about Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) in Brown County.  The mission of the Extension Education Association is to work with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to strengthen and enrich families through educational programs, leadership development and community service.

The program will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Adams Street Community Center.  Educational programs will be presented by club members who attended the State Convention in Waco in September and Extension faculty.  Program topics will include:

“Don’t Let Blue Get to You” – Objectives of this presentation are to describe depression, identify the causes of depression, discuss the importance of getting help and identify types of help available.

“Eating what you Grow” – After completing this lesson, participants will be able to identify the gap in fruits and vegetables in children’s diets; discuss two AgriLife Extension programs where participants can help support promoting fruit and vegetables to children and families; demonstrate and engage adult and child learners in fresh fruit and vegetable preparation.

“Emergency Evacuation” – Objectives of this lesson are to help you evaluate your needs in a disaster, make you aware of resources that could help you in a disaster and help you prepare to evacuate your home in a disaster.

“P to the Power of 4 – Preparing the Presenter for Progressive Programming” – Learn about characteristics of an effective presenter;  when to utilize instructor centered and when to utilize learner-centered presenting styles depending on the content to be learned; characteristics of adult

learners and effective presenting strategies for adult learners.
