The Brownwood Regional Medical Center Volunteers announce the selection of their November and December 2015 Volunteers of the Month. During the January 2016 meeting of the BRMC Volunteer’s Executive Board, Betty Beyer was selected as the November 2015 BRMC Volunteer of the Month and Richard Ivy was selected as the December 2015 BRMC Volunteer of the Month.

Betty Beyer has been a volunteer since May 2003. Betty is a past president of the BRMC Volunteers having served in that position of responsibility in 2009 – 2010. She also served as the treasurer of the BRMC Volunteers from 2012 – 2014. Betty currently is a volunteer at the information desk and also serves as a chairperson coordinating e-mail communications for the BRMC Volunteers’ membership. She has over 5,050 hours of volunteer service at BRMC.

Richard Ivy has been a BRMC Volunteer since February 2008. He currently volunteers at the BRMC information desk were he assists patients and visitors to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. He most recently has assumed additional volunteer responsibilities in the BRMC Intensive Care waiting area. Richard has over 1,760 hours of volunteer service at BRMC.

The Volunteer of the Month Award is selected by the BRMC Volunteers each month during the year. Recipients of the award receive recognition and lunch at the executive board meeting held in the month following the month for which they are selected. Each BRMC Volunteer of the Month recipient is recognized with a framed Volunteer of the Month certificate, a gift card for a dinner at a local restaurant, and a carrying bag emblazoned with a large heart containing the statement “A Work of Heart.” The carrying bag contains items that celebrate the Texas Association of Healthcare Volunteers motto for 2015 – 2016 “Remember those who cannot remember; knowledge empowers caregivers.” This motto emphasizes the need to improve everyone’s knowledge of the disease “Alzheimer’s.”

The BRMC Volunteers are always excited to meet area individuals who are interested in becoming a volunteer and are actively soliciting new members. If you have an interest in volunteering a minimum of 6 to 8 hours per month, BRMC Volunteering will meet your needs.
