BISDLogo2The Brownwood ISD school board unanimously approved bids for repairs to East Elementary that will total more than $129,000.  The repairs will include roof and HAVC replacement in the 1984 addition of the school.  Brownwood contractor Lydick-Hooks roofing was awarded the roof bid for $71,030 while Heart of Texas Mechanical was awarded the HVAC job at a cost of $58,491 to the school.

The bids were presented and discussed by school board trustees in April regarding these repairs, but the issue was tabled when concerns about that state budget and education funding were raised.  After a month since the initial repair bids were presented, school officials said that no new information has been received from Austin regarding school funding in the budget.   Officials did comment that more than $600,000 in federal funding arrived recently that was not anticipated in current BISD budget.
