Written by Ben Cox – The Brownwood High School Theatre Department is busy once again with a project that is designed to entertain as well as involve those watching.

Opening on Saturday the 23rd, with only one showing, Till Death Do Us Part is a murder-mystery dinner-theatre that is unlike any other show put on by the BHS players. It has no script, it will not be performed in the actual theatre, and the audience also plays a part in the show!

Technical Director for the department Brittany Martin says “Each cast member gets an outline of their character, along with key phrases and actions that need to happen during the performance. But that’s it! The rest is improvisation and creativity on the actors part. The audience even gets a part, they have to solve the murder!”

One of the kids involved in the show is Zamien Lopez, a junior, who says the show “is interactive for our guests. It’s kind of like Dungeons and Dragons, or Clue, and you get to be part of the action!”

Martin says audience members will be supplied with “cash” that can be used to bribe cast members for clues, pay for tips, and so on.

The evening will include a meal, prepared by the Theatre Booster parents, as well as an auction. The entire evening is a fund raiser for the students to attend the International Thespian Society nationals, which they qualified for this past fall. (The production of The Grinch earlier this year was one such fundraiser)

Martin says the auction items are all much nicer than one would expect from such an event. “This is really nice stuff! An absolutely beautiful hand crafted table, a weekend at a cabin, and other things that are so nice. We are so thankful to our donors!”

Tickets to the event are $15 per person, $25 per couple, or tables for 8 can be purchased for $100. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Ms Martin at the High School by email, brittany.martin@brownwoodisd.org
