Reports released for the week of March 18-25, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 21 medical emergencies, 2 motor vehicle accidents, 2 electrical calls, 7 fire calls, and 3 hazardous material calls.
Sunday, March 18
*12:16am – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the area of Belle Plain and Elm Streets. Fire crews were dispatched to investigate the smell of gas in the area. Nothing was found.
*11:12am – BFD was called to a two-vehicle accident at CC Woodson and Milton. The occupant of one vehicle was loaded into Guardian and transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center emergency room.
Monday, March 19
*12:19am – BFD was dispatched to an electrical problem in the 1100 block of Magnolia where power lines were tangled in a tree. Oncor was notified of the problem.
*9:15am – BFD was called to a traffic hazard in the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue where a live line was in the roadway. Oncor was notified of the situation.
*1:01pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 6000 block of FM 2632. Fire crews arrived on scene with firefighters from Lake Dam Volunteer Fire Department to a 4 acre grass/brush fire. Fire Crews extinguished fire and returned to their station.
*1:48pm – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 1000 block of Riverside, at Riverside Park, where a power line was down over the roadway. Oncor was notified.
*7:01pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2800 block of Southside Drive. The incident was determined to be arcing of shorted electrical equipment.
Tuesday, March 20
*3:53am – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 400 block of Victoria Street. The incident was determined to be steam, or other mistaken for smoke.
*7:07pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 3500 block of Rhodes Road. Firefighters arrived on scene to find smoke coming out of the apartment. No fire was present but there was scorching on the vent hood and cabinets. Checked for heat and possible fire spread but nothing was found. Fire Marshal Buddy Preston was contacted to investigate.
Wednesday, March 21
*8:06pm – BFD responded to a fire call in the 1800 block of Avenue E. The incident was determined to be a special outside fire.
Thursday, March 22
*12:41am – BFD was called to a fire in the 600 block of Walnut Street. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a one story structure with flames showing. Firefighters entered the structure through the front door and extinguished fire. One occupant of the home was transported to BRMC for smoke inhalation.
Friday, March 23
*12:33pm – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1800 block of Main Blvd to investigate a gas meter that had been hit.
*7:46pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2700 block of Belle Plain. The incident was determined to be a controlled burn.
Saturday, March 24
*1:38pm – BFD was called to a 2-vehicle accident at Main Street/Whaley. Firefighters provided first aid and checked for injuries.
