Reports released for the week of February 19 – 25, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department indicate responses to 19 medical emergencies, 3 motor vehicle accidents, 6 fire calls, 1 hazardous materials call and 1 false alarm.
February 19
*2:48pm – BFD responded to a hazardous materials call in the 100 block of CC Woodson. Fire crews were dispatched to investigate the smell of natural gas. Firefighters investigated; however, nothing was found.
February 20
*3:29am – BFD was called to a fire in the 2000 block of 8th Street. Fire crews were dispatched to investigate the fire alarm activation. Nothing found and the alarm was re-set.
February 21
*4:40pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire in the 200 block of Hillcrest Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing was showing.
*8:50pm – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 3100 block of US Hwy 67 where a single vehicle was involved in a rollover. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
February 22
*8:58am – BFD was called to a fire in the 1800 block of 17th Street. Fire crews were dispatched to investigate the cause of smoke in the residence. Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing showing; however, after an investigation, a burned potato was found in the microwave.
*7:39pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 2800 block of Southside Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke coming out of the floor of the 2nd story balcony. The burned area was exposed and a smoldering hot spot was cooled. Fire Marshal Buddy Preston was on scene to investigate cause of fire. Fire fighters continued salvage and overhaul until no heat was left.
February 23
*6:24pm – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident on W US 67. Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.
*8:56pm – BFD was dispatched to a fire call at 2500 Songbird Circle. Fire crews arrived on scene of a reported grass fire to find nothing. Incident was determined to be a false alarm.
February 24
*3:40pm – BFD was called to a fire in the 800 block of W. Commerce Street. Fire crews arrived to find the fire out upon their arrival.
*10:19am – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 800 block of W. Austin Ave involving a single vehicle. Firefighters provided first aid and checked for injuries.
