Reports released for the week of January 6-12, 2014 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 18 medical emergencies, 8 fire calls, 5 motor vehicle accidents, 2 hazardous materials calls, two electrical problems, and one child locked in a vehicle.

January 6
*10:34 AM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident in the 4400 S US 377. Fire Crews assisted with loading into Guardian EMS Ambulance.
*6:35 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 3400 3rd Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to investigate a carbon monoxide detector activation. Atmos energy was contacted to investigate.
*6:47 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1900 block of 7th Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to find single story residence with heavy smoke and fire on all sides. Firefighters confirmed that all occupants were out of house and took a defensive attack on the fire, protecting exposures on all sides. The fire was contained and overhaul started. Early and Bangs Volunteer Fire Departments provided assistance during the fire.
January 7
*3:46 PM – BFD was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the 2500 block of Austin Avenue.*5:21 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with severe damage and entrapment in the 1000 block of W. Commerce. One passenger was extricated by firefighters who also assisted with loading the patient into Guardian EMS ambulance for transport.
*6:32 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 300 block of Market Place. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing showing. The thermal camera was used to check for extension.
*8:35 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1200 block of Looney Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a light pole fuse link arcing; however, no sparks were falling. The utility company for the pole, Oncor, was contacted.
January 9
*11:31 AM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 3300 block of Austin Avenue where they investigated a carbon monoxide detector. No hazard found.
*4:09 PM – BFD was called to a two-vehicle accident on FM 2125. Fire crews assisted with loading the patient for transport.
January 10
*9:13 PM – BFD responded to a fire call in the 100 block of Miller Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene to find light smoke showing. The fire was put out with extinguishers and the nursing home evacuated several residents to Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Fire crews checked for extension and found none.
*12:28 PM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident with no injuries in the 2300 block of Austin Avenue.
*5:56 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1900 block of 7th Street for the smell of smoke in the area. Fire crews arrived on scene to find nothing.
January 11
*11:18 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding an activated smoke detector. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a burning smell coming from an apartment but no smoke showing. Fire Crews had to make entry into apartment and found occupants inside who reported that incense had fallen over and burned. Windows were opened to ventilate the apartment and the occupants of the apartment were questioned by police.
*7:34 PM – BFD responded to a child locked in a vehicle in the 4400 block of South U.S. Hwy 377. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a 2-year-old locked inside vehicle which they were able to unlock without incident.
January 12
*10:33 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire on Stonebrook Circle. Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from the creek at the back of the property. A small brush fire with leaves and brush involved was quickly knocked down.
*2:29 PM – BFD was called to an electrical problem on Poindexter Street. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a tree limb had fallen on some lines. Oncor was called to the scene.
*2:47 PM – BFD was dispatched to an electrical problem in the 2500 block of Durham Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a large tree branch had fallen on a dead electric line. Exposed ends of the wire were taped.
*6:43 PM – BFD responded to the 1900 block of Good Shepherd to investigate a tree that was on fire. The tree was located but no longer on fire. Water was put on tree to put out all of the hot spots.
