Reports released for the weeks of September 30-October13, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 45 medical emergencies, 4 fire calls, 3 hazardous materials calls, 6 motor vehicle accidents and 2 animal incidents.

Monday, September 30
*6:55 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the area of Coggin and 2nd Street.
*9:07 AM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1700 block of Shaw Drive. Firefighters arrived to find a gas line break outside of a residence and Atmos was notified.
*6:00 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Austin Avenue. Fire crews checked for injuries and none were found.
Wednesday, October 2
*5:50 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1700 block of Coggin Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find nothing showing. The incident was determined to be an unintentional alarm activation.
Thursday, October 3
*4:21 PM – BFD was called to a four-vehicle accident with no injuries at Main Street and Chandler.
Saturday, October 5
*3:11 PM – BFD was dispatched to an animal incident in the 600 block of 2nd Street regarding aggressive bees. The hive was removed.
Monday ,October 7
*1:36 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries at Baker Street and Fisk.
Tuesday, October 8
*8:09 AM – BFD responded to a fire call at Brownwood Regional Airport. Fire crews responded to the report of a plane crash. Firefighters arrived on scene to single engine aircraft that had crashed. The pilot had extricated himself from the wreckage. Firefighters extinguished the wreckage using foam and the scene was secured.
*11:42 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2200 block of Center Avenue. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a riding lawn mower fully involved. The fire was extinguished.
Wednesday, October 9
*10:35 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 800 block of FM 3254. Firefighters arrived on scene to find an alarm company working on the alarm system. All units cleared the scene.
*11:25 AM – BFD was called to the 4200 S 377 regarding a single vehicle accident involving a city dump truck which had overturned. The driver was able to extricate himself from the truck.
*4:55 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1100 block of San Benito. The incident was determined to be a natural gas leak. Firefighters turned the gas supply off and waited for Atmos to arrive at the scene.
Thursday, October 10
*7:28 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident in the 300 block of N. Main Blvd. Firefighters assisted with loading the patient into a Guardian EMS ambulance for transport.
Friday, October 11
*5:49 PM – BFD was dispatched to the area of 6th Street and Avenue E for a public assistance call. Firefighters responded to the report of aggressive bees.
*6:17 PM – BFD was called to a hazardous materials call in the 1900 block of Vincent. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a gas line had been struck by a shovel when a resident was planting a shrub. Atmos was notified and arrived on scene.
Saturday, October 12
*1:00 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 1800 block of Dallas Street. Fire crews were dispatched to the smell of smoke in a residence; however, arrived to find nothing showing. The homeowner stated that a water heater popped when he was attempting to re-light it. The gas was cut off and the owner was advised to contact a plumber.
*1:25 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call at 3rd Street and Coggin Avenue. Firefighters responded to a report of smoke in the area. Fire crews arrived on scene to find a light haze in the air but no smell of smoke or hazard. The incident was determined to be fog.
*4:47 PM – BFD responded to a one vehicle accident at Riverside Park. Firefighters were dispatched for a vehicle which was struck by a falling tree. Fire crews arrived on scene to find vehicle in roadway with a smashed windshield along with multiple dents and scratches. The driver was not injured; however the occupants of vehicle were taken to the hospital in another vehicle.
*5:03 PM – BFD was called to a hazardous materials call at a location on W. Main Blvd. Power was out in the area and Oncor was notified.
Sunday, October 13
*3:56 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2000 block of Austin Avenue, Coggin Park, for a tree smoking but no visible flames. Firefighters arrived to find a single pecan tree that was smoking. A Pike pole was used to get inside tree and the smoldering was extinguished.
