Written and Pictures by Ben Cox – Opening this Friday night, the Bangs High School Theatre department will present their performance of Disney’s Tarzan.

 

Kala, played by Senior Erika Owen and Kerchak, played by Senior Brock Bettis share a moment during one of the musicals many songs.

Music for the show is familiar to parents and kids of all ages, expanded from the five songs written by Phil Collins for the movie soundtrack to a total of 14. All the new music was written by Collins as well.

The first meeting between Tarzan, played by Junior Corbin Freeland and Jane, played by Freshman Sarah Thomison-James as she is rescued from a ginat spiders web.

Running for over a year on Broadway, the musical has been successful in various theaters, touring internationally since closing in New York.

The show will have three performances: Friday the 16th at 7p.m., Saturday the 17th at 7 p.m. with a dessert theatre on Sunday the 18th at 2:30 p.m.

Young Tarzan, played by Senior Clarissa Wilson and Young Terk, played by Sophomore Isabell Dill come to an arrangement.

Tickets are available online or at the door. Adult general admission is $7.00, student general admission is $5.00 and the Sunday dessert add on is $2.00
