Two collisions kept emergency responders busy Friday morning, sending two to the hospital for treatment.
The first accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Avenue K. According to one of the drivers, she was headed north on Austin Avenue when a Scion, which was traveling south, turned in front of her Nissan Juke. The two vehicles collided in the intersection sending the Juke into the yard of a neighboring home and into a decorative brick wall.The female driver of the Scion was transported by EMS to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. Her male and canine passengers and the driver of the Nissan were not reported to have been injured.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The second accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m., at the intersection of Austin Avenue and Slayden Street. The driver of a Buick, which was headed south on Austin after taking her children to school, stated that she had just passed the first wreck and was praying for the victims involved when she collided with an Oldsmobile 88, traveling northeast on Slayden.
The driver of the Buick and her young daughter appeared to be uninjured however shaken up from the accident. The driver of the Oldsmobile had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported for evaluation and treatment of her injuries. Her two children appeared to be uninjured and were not transported. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
