Brownwood Police officers were dispatched to the 1000blk of 3rd Street regarding a report of a burglary in progress at approximately 2:40pm Sunday, August 28, 2011.

According to a press release from Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller, a neighbor within that block reported seeing two male subjects enter a residence through a window.

Officers set a perimeter and approached the residence, and one male subject was located at the front of the home in the living room.  A second male subject exited the rear door of the residence and jumped the fence into the alleyway where he was met by police officers, according to police.

17-year-old Ezra Jacob Berry was identified along with an unnamed male juvenile.  Both males admitted to entering the residence without permission.  Berry explained that he entered an unsecured window and unlocked the back door for the juvenile.

Ezra is charged with Burglary of a Habitation and is being held on $20,000 bond.  The 16-year-old juvenile suspect was also charged with Burglary of a Habitation.

The Brownwood Police Department reminds all citizens that crime prevention is a team effort.

“We greatly appreciate the assistance from the observant citizen and are thankful to everyone who supports us in these matters,” stated Fuller.
