The Brownwood Lions started strong in the Division II 7-on-7 State Football Tournament in College Station, but were eliminated with a narrow loss in the second game of the championship bracket on Friday.
The 28-27 loss to Liberty was Brownwood’s only defeat during the tournament, going 4-0 up to that point.
Brownwood defeated Lago Vista 28-18, Frisco Lone Star 26-20, and Palacios 27-24 in pool play on Thursday to advance to the championship bracket. Brownwood also took down Nevada Community with a score of 33-12 in the opening round of the championship bracket.
Celina went on to win the 2012 Division II Texas State 7on7 Championship by defeating Graham 34-28 to close out the tournament.
