A 91-year-old World War II Veteran is currently running across the United States in a fundraising effort to land his ship back on Normandy for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and will be running through Brown County May 2-16.
Ernest Andrus, or Ernie as friends call him, will be coming through Brownwood on May 7th ending his day’s run at Heartland Mall in Early. Local supporters will host a welcome reception May 8th at the Brown County Courthouse square from 12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. Heart of Texas EMS will be serving hot dogs, chips and drinks during the reception.
Ernie started his fundraising quest in 2013, running about 6-8 miles a day, 3 days a week and will complete his run in 2016.To support Ernie’s run, you can “like” his Facebook page, “like” the “Ernie’s Coming to Town – Brownwood Edition” Facebook page, donate money, cheer him on when he comes through town, or join him in the run.
