On Friday, San Saba County Sheriff’s Office reported that 21-year-old Kristi Ann Goode, along with her live-in boyfriend Brett Sealy, had been arrested and are currently being held on murder charges in the death of her 13-month-old daughter.
San Saba County Sheriff Allan Brown stated, “At around eight o’clock yesterday, officers of the sheriff’s department served two warrants for murder, the murder of Aleesa Koepp, a 13-month-old child. The investigation has been going on since November 15th. We currently have two in custody for the charge of murder. They are Kristi Goode and Brett Matthew Sealy. They were arrested without incident.”
Brown further stated that, “The case is still under investigation, however we took the case to the next level after an autopsy confirmed that the death was a homicide”. Goode is currently being held in the Brown County jail on a $250,000 bond and Sealy is being held in the San Saba County jail, also on a $250,000 bond. Sheriff Brown referred any other questions to Sam Oatman, the 33rd district attorney.
Goode is being held at the Brown County Jail due to the San Saba County Jail being one of the oldest jails in the country, which cannot house women.
Originally, the San Saba County Sheriff reports stated that a deputy was dispatched at around 5:20 a.m. Sunday (November 15, 2009) to a home in the 100 block of Live Oak in Richland Springs in response to a call by the baby’s mother. The deputy arrived at the home where the 13-month-old was unresponsive. The deputy performed CPR until paramedics arrived, and the baby was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood, but efforts to save the child were unsuccessful.
Reports say that hospital staff members notified the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and said investigators are treating the death as suspicious.
